Riley: why didn't you come in the water with me?
Me: I didn't think you wanted your old, fat, stinky momma if you had a friend to play with
Riley: you're not stinky
Reading between the lines is easy. What struck me was how I described myself and how that story I tell myself about myself isn't true. I'm not stinky.

Haha cute story.I think we should all have a special book for the funny things our kids said and still say LOL.Thanks for sharing!
My sisters and I used to tell everyone we met this joke :
"Kim, you're pretty."
"Well, thank you."
"Pretty ugly !!!"
No, you are not stinky. You are not fat. You are not old. Yes, you are his momma. And he is lucky to have you. ;-)
Um....do you honestly think I, moi, would hang out with stinky people? Nope. Not on your life. Riley knows exactly how lucky he is to have a mom like you!
Hi there -I so know that feeling! It will pass. Here I am - old(older than you!) fat (fatter than all the Catalan girls) white skinned with elephant knees (or one of them) and I came here to live, found a lovely Catalan man, and can prance around naked on the beach without a care!
Getting older is a challenge but better to pass though the feeling stinky stage and come out the other end than.....not get there at all. What does wolf woman think? K x
PS and I live with a stepson who said I was letja (ugly) but hey....what can you do but laugh and carry on?
we tell ourselves some of the worst stories about ourselves...
You're none of the things you described yourself as...but know you aren't alone...women are notorious for this kind of thing! Thankfully Riley has good eyes, good sense and a good heart!
