First day, first grade. My heart breaks. His good friend, Pearle, is in his class AND they got to choose desks that are side by side. He has the teacher who is a little softer but who doesn't speak any English. He's already survived kindergarten in French school, maybe he will be just fine. Very long shadows this chilly morning.

School already?? It will be here soon too -- my youngest goes back on the 8th..grade 12. Oldest will head back on the long weekend and his classes will start the week after.
Riley looks rather proud, maybe a little uncertain about what's ahead, but ready to tackle whatever grade 1 is all about!! Glad he his his friend with him...makes a difference!
First grade! A big step! Happy he has his friend.
Good for you mom for having the wherewithall to snap some photos as Riley was leaving the house. I always treasure the first day of school leaving the house picture more than the posed official school picture; it captures the pure anticipation as well as the slight nervousness we all feel when stepping into a new place in life.
A milestone for both mother and child - the day in their lives when they begin to spend more time "out there" in the world than with you.
Oh, I have been dealing with the roller coaster of emotions all week with mine going into Kindergarten. Its bittersweet. I have been blogging about our journey into the public school realm and the adjustment.
Your little guy is adorable!
I found you on Beth's blog, nice to meet you:)
first day of school boys break the hearts of mothers all around....
