Pet Peeve of the Week, etc.

My pet peeve of the week is the over-use of the words, "vintage" and, "retro", when trying to sell crap via on-line sources. I want to beg, "please don't waste my time". But one man's ceiling is another man's floor as Paul Simon so aptly put it.

Or one woman's garbage is another woman's treasure. Face it: vintage is "used".

I agree with you on vintage, I don't hear much on retro but I can see where that would get old too.

aha! Come to Catalunya where noone seems to be interested in vintage or retro! All is new and anything older than a few years goes to the dump!
(I exagerrant:) but you know what I mean?)
Love the Paul Simon quote K x

I dislike "retro" more than vintage. Now vintage to me is ancient...like really dusty, beaten up and smells of the past (and I do mean smell in the sensory sense!)...

Retro? Sounds like disco...it sounds like something that was popular, is no longer but wants to be.

And people who go on etsy and sell this? Etsy was meant to be "handmade". Sure some of these people's items are handmade, but not in the sense they were meant for etsy.

And much of is sure is, as you so beautifully said, is CRAP!!!

Then...
__Of course there is -collectable-
and -experienced-... elite words for "some, wan'em" or "old
stuff."

__I could go on and on... but I prefer estate or yard sales. If I find a book... that was published in 1903... full of dust, and tender pages full worm holes, I can pretty well expect its -old stuff-!
