Resolution Revolution

To resolve or not resolve. Is that your question? Last year I had a couple of goals, more than resolutions. Creative goals that I didn't keep up with, one I felt a little guilty over (imagine?!). I also had a word for the year - peace - which was like a goal. I needed to bring a sense of peace into my life about everything. It involved letting go of so much, remembering what is important in the moment. I feel pretty successful about the results of my peace quest. This year my word found me in November - dream. Ah, such dreams I have! I am going to dream this year, not only in a wishful way, in a way that brings these dreams down to earth and into my life.

A while back I stumbled across a blog post connected to, I think, the Mondo Beyondo group which was about grieving what you need to grieve for the year passing as well as setting your intentions for the coming year. I wish I could find the link for the specific questions as they seemed geared toward digging up a lot of deeply buried treasure.

This coming year I am participating in Karen and Lori's Weekly Gratitude project. I am a big fan of gratitude, it has been an essential part of my life for over 600 days now (and counting). I have also bought and downloaded Leonie's beautiful book for seeing out 2009 and welcoming 2010, with 40 colorful pages of writing and other exercises. I can hardly wait to carve out the time to sit down with that piece of art.

What are you doing during this transition time?

My goal for the coming year is yours from last year – peace – to strive to achieve it both within myself and in my interactions with others – with whatever life happens to throw my way...
Wishing you much luck & success with all your dreams.

Dream. Oh you will, you will, you will..and more than just dream Kim I see you fulfilling those dreams. Isn't it a wonderful thing to do though? To allow thoughts to ripen into shape and then to take hold to be carried forward??? mmmmm

As you know, I'm working with "share" which encompasses so much more than just the obvious. I'm taking it to much deeper depths and widths to see where it will take me.

I'll be doing "Mondo Beyondo" which begins next week and I hadn't heard about Karen and Lori's "Weekly Gratitude" but think I will look into that as gratitude is a very large part of my life as well.

I'm wishing you much joy and promise as you spend your year within the land of "dream".

I gave up resolutions awhile ago - Like you, I like the idea of goals or areas of focus instead. Last year, my word was "Release" - and I am still looking back now and thinking about what I have released - many things I think - but I don't know if 2009 was the year of release for me really...
I think my word this year will be "emerge"...maybe...kind of having a hard time focusing on this stuff right now...kind of being in the moment instead, I guess...it will come though...in Kim Time, I think ! ;)
Wishing you a dream time extraordinaire...oh and expressing gratitude, can never get too much of that...off to check it out...
Big Love !

I like the idea of choosing words and will do so again this year. Still haven't figured out what my word will be though.

To the question you asked, yes I was using the sketchbook moleskine. I usually don't gesso it. It is one of many journals I use. Others I have made myself out of heavy weight watercolor paper. Sometimes I use the moleskine for lighter work like drawing and sketching and the other journals for more textured stuff. I have a paper bag journal that I really need to gesso and I forget sometimes and the paper is just not sturdy enough to handle a lot.

I have never been big on resolutions, but I think I could use a word. Trick is finding one.....maybe balance.
